Bruce Marshall
Our president Bruce Marshall is an award-winning writer and artist whose work has been internationally published and exhibited. His most recent works are two books he both wrote and illusterated; Uniforms of the Republic of Texas and Uniforms of the Alamo and the Texas Revolution. He has been described in the media as a "Rembrandt of the West", ""one of the contemporary giants of Southwestern art", and "perhaps the country's finest watercolorist."
Among the honors this has brought him are the title Artist of the 65th Legislature from his home state of Texas, the title Artist in Residence of the Texas Navy from the Texas Navy Association, the title National Artist of the Confederate States of America from the Sons of Confederate Veterans and two knighthoods from European royalty.
Among Marshall's best known paintings are The Texas Citizen Soldier, an epic oil (6'x12') for the Texas Room of the National Infantry Museum, commisioned by the National Guard Association of Texas; The Patriot, another giant oil (5'x9') for the Mahler Student Center of Dallas Baptist University; and Ten Historic Texans, a cover for fifteen million telephone directories for Southwestern Bell.
More than forty of his works hang in permanent museum collections and he is listed in Who's Who in American Art, and Who's Who in the South and the Southwest.
Bruce Marshall and his wife Ann live on a wooded estate three miles southwest of Austin. Both have deep Texas roots. Their clans are Keith, McDonald, McGill and Bruce.
