Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find some questions that we commonly receive in
regards to our group. If you do not find your question answered
here, feel free to drop us a line on our
contact us page. Q: Do I have to be Scottish to be a member of The Scots of Austin? A: Not at all! While the majority of our members are of Scottish descent, very few are actually from Scotland or first generation Scots, and many are not of direct Scottish descent at all. The group is open to all persons interested in Scottish and Celtic culture, history, and heritage. We welcome the participation of all who share those interests. Q: Can you help me research my clan affiliation and/or tartan? A: Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to directly help people in their research. We are, however, always happy to point you in the direction of resources that can help in your research. Additionally, many of our members have considerable experience doing ancestry research and can be a valuable source of advice. We encourage you to attend one of our monthly meetings and discuss your research needs with the group. Chances are good that there will be someone there who can give you some pointers. Q: I'd like to volunteer to help the group. What do I need to do? A: Contact us! We are always looking for eager volunteers. The success of any organization such as The Scots of Austin depends on the help of volunteers. | |
